The Common Room
….. The Common Room has state-of-the-art facilities of DVD, PowerPoint and television projector. They are discreetly installed where they remain unnoticed until needed, leaving the elegant Arts and Crafts interior to offer a relaxed atmosphere in which to meet together. Talks, recitals and other corporate occasions take place here, but there is also a wide range of smaller-scale activities from which to choose, including fortnightly Extend exercise classes and monthly film nights

  • The Theology Group meets each month to receive a paper from a Resident or guest speaker
  • The Art Group gives both experienced artists and complete novices the opportunity to discover new skills
  • The Poetry Group meets to enjoy works chosen, and sometimes written, by its members
  • The monthly “Music to the Ears” sessions offer a varied programme of classical recordings chosen around a theme

 

The Snooker table is set in the comfortable surroundings of the Fiction Library, while the Croquet Lawn provides a beautiful setting for a gentle game, often accompanied by a summer evening drink. There is a 9-Hole Putting Green used both for practice and for competitions within the College and against neighbours. Residents may also enjoy walking in the 9 acre grounds and surrounding areas and use the recently created path through the College woodlands. 2016 has seen the introduction of the College model railway for the enjoyment of Residents and visitors.Activities beyond the College include visits to the theatre and nearby National Trust properties, and a twice-weekly free taxi service to nearby East Grinstead.
