The Station of Pentecost at the College of St Barnabas
Faithful God, who fulfilled the promises of Easter by sending us your Holy Spirit and opening to every race and nation the way of life eternal: open our lips by your Spirit, that every tongue may tell of your glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

| The finished painting |
Painted by James Lynch, the artist of the Stations of the Cross, this depiction of the Coming of the Holy Spirit was specially produced to be positioned following the Station of the Resurrection.

| The initial sketch |
Some of the characters who appear in the Stations of the Cross are also present among the disciples. The 'rushing mighty wind' can be seen blowing the door curtains and the clothes of the figures. The Holy Spirit descends on them like flames, as well as being shown as a dove beneath the skylight.

The picture was blessed by the Warden at the end of Mass on the Day of Pentecost, 23 May 2010.
With the agreement of the Friends of the College to fund the project, work began in Spring 2009. By the summer the preliminary sketches were complete and James had embarked on a small colour study before starting work on the full size canvas
